Happy Masters Monday everyone,

At last year’s Masters, Chairman Fred Ridley announced that Augusta National was partnering with Augusta Municipal Golf Course  to renovate and revitalize the course. Just a few days ago the Augusta Commission approved a 50 year lease of the course to Augusta National, which signals the project is moving forward.

As such, Augusta Municipal Golf Course presents a wonderful canvas for the next addition of the Armchair Architect’s Contest.

Your job, if you choose to accept it, is to create a proposed master plan of a potential future for the Augusta Municipal golf facility.

The requirements of the project are as follows:
  • All facilities currently in place need to be replicated in the new master plan. Those include:
    • One 18 hole Augusta Municipal golf course
    • One First Tee short course
    • Practice facilities that can be used by both the First Tee and the Augusta Municipal golf course.
  • The First Tee short course should be at least 6 holes that vary in length and par, focused on junior play.
  • Multiple practice facilities are not required. Considerations need to be made to accommodate separate usage by the First Tee and Augusta Municipal golf course for these practice facilities.

The contest is open to anyone who would like to participate. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday May 15th, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET. The entry form will open for submission May 1st, 2024 at 12:01 AM ET.

Designs can be produced in any medium or method desired, but only jpg or png files created on the base site map will be accepted for submission. The site plans for the property can be found here: Augusta Muni AAC 2024
Good Luck!

Looking forward to putting something together on this. Always fun to do hypothetical plans.

One note: I think the scale may be off. Looks like it's more like 1":400'?

If you pulled the image off the post, it is not to scale. I've confirmed the site plans in the provided link are accurate to scale.
