Some recent photos of rock and sand washed onto the first at Mach. Looks like the crew did a great job cleaning it off.

I suspect that would be a total of two pints !

I played Machrihanish on the Tuesday before Christmas. I was the only person on the course due to the impending storm. As it was the wind speed at the neighbouring airport was measured at 25/30mph with some gusts above that. All good fun until you get the odd squall of hailstones thrown in. The first time that happened I was on the 3rd and took the opportunity to jump into the greenkeeping sheds for a bit of shelter. Not surprisingly the two greenkeepers were in there doing routine maintenance to machinery and I got chatting to them. I asked them if they ever closed the course due to wind. The answer is no, they just don't put the flags out to save them being torn to shreds in the wind. It appears golfers are left to look after themselves !
