I wonder if they tried metal detecting for the old cups.

It’s a fabulous dunescape and would be an amazing re-addition to the Northumberland golf scene were it ever to be re-instated.

PS Bit of a bugger to get to at high tide times, though!  ;D

When we had the BUDA down that way a few years ago I was going to go and have a look see with course plan in hand but the timings of the tide didn't give me enough time. Realistically I think the only way to resurrect the course would be to give the land over to a willing farmer as a grazing let and have it as a southern version of Iona. That supposes whoever owns the island now is willing, and that some volunteers can be found to cut the greens etc.

Well, that was massively underwhelming.

Terribly disappointing video. About 3-4 years ago I stopped by without a map, but with a few old pix and reckon I found about three holes. Didn’t have enough time to dig into because of the tide. Its superb land for golf.

It would have been nice if he had tried to discover some of the holes. It was more of a story about his family than the course.

Whilst the piece may not be all that some might wish it to be it will hopefully highlight the course to a greater audience and if it perhaps, perhaps, contributes in some way to the course returning in some form that’ll be good.
The Askernish of Northumberland awaits!

And not a particularly illuminating story about his family. For instance at one point he refers to his ancestors having played the course but no mention of who and when.

It took about eight and a half minutes into a ten minute film before you see anything of the land or photos of the course as it was. A real missed opportunity but the sponsors will be happy with the presenter carrying their golf bag round a NLE course  ???
