Sean, when you say "bold bunker placement," what sort of placement do you have in mind? I agree that I rarely see a bunker that gives me pause, but it's not so easy to find a placement that doesn't really confound the average golfer, except for maybe the blind bunker over the back of a green.
Bunkers that are more in play, in harmony with the terrain and overall hole concept. A designer must have goal in mind for each and if stripped to bare essentials the bunkers should have a significant role to play. Woking 3 & 4 are good examples. There are far too many bunkers which don't add to the hole.
