LACC - 2023 US Open

(1/10) > >>

Ben Stephens:
Hi

This has been rather quiet on GCA which is surprising as the US Open is just around the corner and I have seen a number of very good videos regarding LACC for the US Open.

Have been reading Golf Architecture in America and it is quite relevant today even though it was written in 1927. George Thomas was a forward thinking GCA and his knowledge of building golf courses is very clever.

Here are some You Tube movies for LACC which I am excited to see how the top players play it as it is not the conventional US Open course.

Rob Marshall:

Ditto - I am counting up the days. Interesting that the Thomas LA trio starts with a par 5! plus LACC is partly a Herbert Fowler layout which Thomas modified.

Max Prokopy:
Thank you, Ben.

I enjoyed the GD version because the drone angle seemed to simultaneously give me the field of the contrast in fairway topography, yet also give a sense of the extent to which to bunkers eat into portions of the greens.

For someone who has not, and probably never will, get the privilege of playing there, I think they got the angle just right.  It will be a heck of a challenge for the game's best.

John Foley:
Cant wait. Any of the locals meeting up? I'll be there W-Sa.
