Nice holes that come back to the clubhouse not 9 or 18

#4 at Fenway is a nice uphill hole that comes back to the attractive clubhouse. Obviously 4 at Pine Valley and my home course,Rolling Green, 2 are good.


I mean come back very close to the clubhouse like 9 and 18 often do.

Old Elm #2 comes right back.
Dead ringer for #16 at Royal Dornoch except Old Elm has a much, much, much more severe green.


#15 at The Valley Club also qualifies.

Wyantenuck in the Berkshires has a very fun 11th hole ... a downhill par 3 with a green that seems like it practically abuts the clubhouse.

In Western PA, there are three Tillinghast courses that I can think of:


Nemacolin Country Club #2


New Castle CC #7 I believe it might have been #9 at one time and what is #9 was #2 and also came back to the clubhouse. 


Sunnehanna CC #2, #6 and #15

Merion East... half the holes it seems are around the club house... but 13 really return


Beaconsfield in Montréal
11th .. there are 4 tees and 4 greens within 150 meters from the front door of the clubhouse... the 1st tee is the furthest of those

In thinking about this thread, it really struck me how many of the very good to great courses I have played do not return to the clubhouse. And I do not mean just traditional links courses. In no particular order, PH2, Ballyneal, Yale, CPC, Swinley Forest, SS Red and Blue, Pine Needles, Southern Pines, Sleepy Hollow, Pac Dunes, Bandon Trails, Woking, Old Mac, and Broadmoor East all do not.

14 at Woking is as close to the clubhouse as any hole I can think of.


15 at Tyneside, 13 at Crail Balcomie, 5 at Huntercombe

#2 at Rockaway Hunting Club comes back up towards the club house and ProShop.  An absolutely fantastic green with a pronounced thumbprint.. worth seeing

The 3rd on Baltusrol's Lower course returns to the pro shop/bag storage right below the clubhouse.  in the mid 60's the Duke of Windsor would show up and play the first 3 only for that reason...

The Killermont course of Glasgow GC has 6 greens and 2 practice putting greens within 140 metres of the clubhouse. In the old days you could phone up the bar in the clubhouse and order drinks to be delivered to a particular green. Sadly those days have gone.  :(
