Instead of the funk, we want the Yank - give up the Yank.  Aww we need the Yank - gotta have the Yank.

We’re gonna turn this mother out.

Tony,

As agreed, I paid my balance yesterday. Put me down for England!

As stated yesterday you are the only person who can't understand what to pay as set out above.

Send correct amount today if you wish to participate.

By my calculations I have sent you the correct amount.

If you have a query with this it would be reasonable to reply to my messages and we can resolve things amicably.

Bumping this.  One week today the troops start gathering.

The current heatwave is predicted to have dissapeared and predicted high teen temps are ideal for golf!

I got caught not registering at Newquay Golf Club. Cost me $90 bucks!

All,

Tony, Giles and myself are in the proces of setting up the matches for next week. Can everybody who's not yet in the WhatsApp group please contact Tony about this? Also: can those who play only one round per day please indicate if they wish to play the AM or the PM round? Please let us know in the discussion group or through WhatsApp! The more clarity we have about this, the better. We wish to avoid last-minute scrambling of matches as much as possible!

Cheers
Enno

Thanks Enno.  I’m playing one round daily, preferably in the mornings so I can spend afternoons with the Mrs.

One round per day, certainly the morning round but as a warning I may not be playing at all as I have a tender right shoulder and suspect the rotator cuff. I,m hoping six days of rest and careful swings may make it possible to play.
Some days you play golf, some days you find things.

I'm not really registered, but I couldn't find a symbol for certifiable.

Steve please check your IM's I've been trying to get in touch. I need your direct email and whatsApp no.  (It may not be your falut even our beloved leader has to admitt the IM system doesn't work.)

my emial.   spangles60@outlook.com

Fingers crossed you're OK to play

We have you down for the PM round on Friday - not a problem to play AM rounds on the other days.

That goes for others who havn't checked in, you are down for the Friday PM round. The AM slots are limited and now full.   Other days you can choose which suits you, but please let us know your preference if you only want to play 18.

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon..

Well that's another BUDA over and a very successful event it was too. Lots of old faces although some couldn't make it and a few new faces who will hopefully come again.

The Players club was an inspired choice to base ourselves. The whole group together (apart from Bogey who perhaps wisely decided not to introduce his wife to the general rabble) helped greatly with the logistics and the socialising and Adrian was a brilliant host. Thanks to him and his staff. As for the courses;

Cleeve - I didn't play Cleeve due to height issues but from talking to the rest of the group quite a few had this as their favourite course. A combination of openess, elevational changes and interesting greens seemed to do the trick.

Painswick - I'd played it once before about 11 years ago and while I could remember a lot of the holes there were a few very good holes I'd forgotten about. Some inspired golf design only let down by the hole crossing and more tellingly the public footpaths going across the course from all sorts of directions. The fact that we played on a Saturday only exacerbated the problem. If only they could ring-fence the course to stop the ramblers.........

Stranahan - Adrian's design and the second course at the Players club. There's a lot to like about the course with the greens being the star of the show. Built by means of landfill, I think I'm right in saying the detailed design was made up on the hoof as the landfill went in (Adrian - correct me if I'm wrong). There are a number of blind or semi-blind shots which you wouldn't normally expect on a modern course but that just adds to the attraction. A course that takes a bit of knowing, and no bad thing that. I'd definitely like to play it again.

Minch - the ultimate in rustic golf. A huge open expanse with cows dotted about here and there. Where Painswick and to a lesser extent Stranahan were a bit stressful due to the proximity of other golfers and ramblers, Minch was in comparison relatively stress free. The rough was low thanks to the cows, so no ball hunting, and there was rarely anyone in danger of being hit. In terms of the design, the par 3's were the highlight although the other holes also have interest but really it is the open expanse that makes it.

So to sum up, well done and thank you to Tony in organising, thanks also to Enno for bring BUDA into the digital age, thanks to Giles for proving that when it comes to Captaincy less is more  ;)  and finally once again thanks to Adrian and his team and also the other clubs for their hospitality.

Carlton,
Good god, man. Way too much chit-chat about golf courses and not nearly enough about food, drink and general bonhomie.

Thank you Tony and Adrian for organising and the Capts too. Nice to meet-up again with so many golf friends and meet some new friends too. Shame the weather went a little pearshaped and that I wasn't able to climb the hill or say hi to some of my favourite common grazing bovine acquaintances.

Really good to get back to Buda after four years away. Great organization by Tony. More comments later, but agree that Adrian Stiff and his club were a fine base for the event. I, too, would like another trip around the Stranahan course.

For me, a real highlight was one of the new participants - Tony's dog Lupin. Seen here at Painswick.
