Don't watch much golf on TV but I always enjoyed Maltbie.  Gary "That's right, Johnny" Koch, not so much.  I don't think announcers bring much to the table in any sport other than baseball.

You must not watch Basketball then, there are some terrific crews at both the college and NBA level.  And Jim Nantz with Tony Romo is pretty good combo for NFL games.

But the NBA on TNT with Charles, Ernie, Kenny, and Shaq is the best sports commentary for any sport...bar none.

I think Romo is pretty overrated.


Even though I grew up with Chick Hearn (and some guy named Lynn Shackelford) calling the Laker games and have been in a fantasy football league with the voice of an NBA team for over 20 years, I gave up on the NBA a few decades ago. Zero interest in it.
