1900 Harper's Official Golf Guide
« on: February 03, 2023, 10:46:30 AM »
Does anyone have a link to a digital copy of the 1900 Harper's Guide? Note 1900. The 1901 guide is commonly available, but I haven't been able to find the 1900 guide.

Tom:

USGA Seagle Electronic Library has a copy.  Click this link, click “Browse Collections” at the top right of your screen. Then select “Books”.  Go to page 3.  About 2/3rds of the way down the page you will find the Harpers Official Golf Guide for 1900:

Thanks Bret. Unfortunately, what I'm looking for (Kingston Golf Club) is on Page 258 and there's a  gap between Pages 256 and 273. Talk about bad research luck!

Tom:

Kingston is noted in the guide but there is no information about the course.

Yes, no information because Page 258 is missing (in the gap between 256 and 273).

No, that's not what I wrote.  There's no information because all the guide does is list the name of the course and provides no further data (there are a number of courses for which this is the case).  I've seen the missing pages.

Sven, you could have been clearer if you had first said that you've seen Page 258 and there's no information there.

Is anyone else having issues with the search feature on the USGA Seagle Library site?

I haven't been able to get results with even the most straightforward searches for several weeks now.   Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Looks like you can search by title or author but not keywords in content.

Try "Bedford" in advanced search under Title and then do the same in just the regular search feature, for instance
