Looks like Ernie Way perhaps added a second nine to Willie Park Jr.'s Meadowbrook Country Club in the early 1920s.

Karl:

Seems like Harry Collis did that work later.

Thanks Sven,

Looks like the 1919 report of the second nine didn't happen till 1921 by Collis. Ernie Way was indeed reported as maintaining the golf course in 1919 when the idea of a second nine was being thought of. See the below article.

Mike:

It would be nice to have the citations for articles like this.

Thanks,

Sven

Sven,

My apologies...the one citing Sweeney as the architect of Washtenaw was from the Detroit Free Press July 30, 1920.

The other with him and Walter Travis at Lochmoor is Detroit Free Press July 13th, 1919.

Thanks.

This is an interesting find. Ernie Way immigrated to the US through New York City, arriving 26 Mar 1899 on the SS Lucania. This must have been one of his earliest golf employments in the US at the Jefferson Golf Club of Richmond, VA. This is also a very early US course laid out by Willie Tucker.
