Mike, I'm pretty sure Bert and Ernie are brothers.[Ha. This was not intended to be a Sesame Street joke! Too funny.]
Karl,Great stuff! Was Ernie Way in any way related to William Herbert (Bert) Way who laid out first nine holes of the Washtenaw Country Club outside Detroit in July of 1899 and several others including the original Firestone? Thanks!

Karl:I had the name of the member wrong in my list. Pelouze sold the land, Moore was the enthusiastic member who the 1933 article credits. That 1922 article about Park is pretty confusing. The second reference of Park's name should probably have been Way.Sven
Sean,I'm pretty sure Ross never worked at Washtenaw. He apparently stopped by when the club was considering some land purchases and said the famous "God intended this for a golf course", but this article indicates the work was done by a local pro. I'm hoping to play there in a few weeks, time and weather permitting.
