Saturday 17th.
We have the tee from 1.30pm on the world renowned Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa.  It’s up to the Buda Captains to decide but either 4BBB or some form of Greensomes can be played.
We have upto 8 tee times or 32 players available.
The Hotchkin course at Woodhall is a World Top 100 course and the Club are extending the England rate to all visitors. Recently in receipt of restoration work by Tom Doak’s Renaissance crew.   I’ve heard from several people the results are outstanding, which can only further enhance its reputation. The course will be in first rate condition as we are following two weeks of the English Men’s and Women’s Championship. Here’s Sean’s recently updated profile.
https://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,63059.0.html
Saturday Dinner will be at the Hotel (see below) we will welcome Richard Latham the long time Secretary of the Club and he’ll provide us with a historical perspective as to its importance. Currently £45 for a 3 course Meal with Coffee and tip. Not inc. Wine.  Hopefully this may be negotiated Downwards. Money will be collected with the balance in July.

Sunday
AM
Buda has traditionally been 5 rounds and from 9.50am we have 6 tee times, max 24 players on the Bracken Course. As we are following others there’s little point going for anything other than some form of 4 ball match play. Those playing in the morning will follow those only playing in the PM.
This also allows those who only want to play 18 a day to participate, though I would say all the courses are easy walks.
PM
Again we have upto 32 players in some variety of 4 ball play starting at 2.10pm.

Next day we switch to links
Monday
AM
We have the tee from 9.30 am at Seacroft GC.  NB Please allow 1 hour for travel (ignore Google as you have to go through the centre of town on a Monday morning0. I would suggest we play a round of Foursomes (alternate Shot)?
Afternoon start times TBC - but this is the opportunity to play the traditional closing singles matchplay (albeit going out in 4’s). There is the option for some to only play in the PM. Due to available light anyone playing only 18 will go out first in the PM.
Price includes a sandwich Lunch.

I love Seacroft (this will be my 4th visit) and I’m excited to see the work by our own Clyde Johnson which is approx. 4/5 completed. This will hopefully see the course get the recognition it richly deserves.

Socialising / Hotel.  Second Hotel added.  Again attendees should  book direct with hotels.
Much discussion last year was on how BUDA has become less social over the years. So this year we are introducing a nominated base Hotel. There are other options in town but the available rooms listed below should be claimed direct with the Hotel now.   If we can confirm these rooms we have a core base.
Petwood House is 1000 yards from the course and has an excellent reputation and was the base for the Dam Busters pilots in WWW11. The Dinner will be there Saturday night and hopefully the Bar will be full Sunday night.
They do have very  limited vacancies for both Saturday and Sunday and are currently holding the following rooms for us.  (NB there are more spaces available at these rates for Friday and Saturday nights only)
3 NO Twin/Double rooms.     Shared £124 per night
                                                    Single   £87 per night.
5no Executive Rooms              Shared £159 per night.
                                                    Single  £122 per night.
Price includes Breakfast and VAT.
Cont Elaine+4401526352411  and Quote Muldoon for these rooms at this rate.
They are holding them for us for the next 10 days and please lets make sure we take these up.
Shoot me and IM/email and I’ll forward her email; you can cancel upto 24 hrs in advance as long as you provide details on the phone at time of booking.
Please indicate on the thread if you have a reservation at the Hotel.

We also have rooms reserved at The Golf Hotel. Again I’ve heard good things and its even closer to the Club! The hotel is officially closed to the 6th, but she invited people to contact her via email and she'll confirm on her return.

Covid
Both the Clubs are offering 100% refunds or a credit for future dates if the Rules prohibit playing/travel.

Deposits  -
How to do this is in the next post.
Due to Woodhall being so popular we will need to collect deposits by the end of January in order to secure this booking.  I will do a further  update on this nearer the time.
Except in the case of Covid (see above) please consider these as non refundable. If your plans change then your deposit will either reside with the Clubs or will be used to buy those attending a Drink at the Dinner.
NB The balances will need to be paid in advance by the end of July 2021. If you send a deposit, please put this date in your Diary as I won’t be able to chase everyone and failure to pay the balance will result in a lost deposit (see above).
Unfortunately, due to the current situation both Clubs will only deal with me as a single point of contact. I’m not a business so I ask that you read this carefully and stick to the requested timings. Again ask any questions you need to for clarification.
Summary of costs below
For those who only want to attend part please indicate your interest. This year we’ve designed in a little flexibility but I do feel priority should be given to those playing all 5 rounds.

A note on travel to Lincolnshire
Woodhall is approx. 3hrs from Heathrow Airport and 2hours 40 from Manchester Airport. However September is Harvest time and the chance of getting stuck behind a tractor/combine harvester on the narrow local roads  is very real and I can personally attest  it will cost you extra travel time.
Due to the fact we’ll finish late Monday and Skegness is a bit remote I have made enquiries about a hotel to stay overnight in Skegness for the Monday night and will up date the thread. ASAP.

I’ll leave it to others to recommend places to play on the way or subsequently.

How to pay

It seems like the Paypal “loophole” of sending money To Friends and relations as a gift FOC has passed.

There are 3 ways of getting the Monies to me.
1
Those with a sterling account can pay directly into my bank -  please email me at Spangles60@outlook.com and I’ll send you my account details (same as last year for those who used that method). I’m not happy putting it up on a discussion board.

2
Thanks to Mike Whitaker for identifying the following Bank that charge smaller fees than usual for making a currency transfer.
https://wise.com/us/send-money/send-money-to-the-uk?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&matchtype=p&device=m&userlocation=9010601&keyword=send%20money%20to%20great%20britain&campaignid=14568981100&adgroupid=127104854299&utm_campaign=14568981100___127104854299&gclid=Cj0KCQiAieWOBhCYARIsANcOw0w91mNdnZBGMATkBdT5HR7C1dhVWRaMFOUYF1ZCkkXuYqRTGmJttB0aAmGcEALw_wcB

Again you will need my bank account details AA email me at Spangles60@outlook.

3
Paypal.  It  seems like they are now adding a 5% charge for these transfers.
DO NOT USE THE ADDRESS POSTED ON HERE LAST YEAR ADDRESS to send Money – see below.
You still need to send it as a Gift to Friends and Family – not paying for goods and services - and they don’t make it that easy.
Here’s guidance

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ_3UM5lEWo

The only Paypal address to use is this one (do not shorten it!)  hstjet@googlemail.com

Money now needed.   Woodhall Spa is not a ‘normal’ Golf Club, if we don't pay them they release the tee times. Same goes for meal at Petwood - consider these bits 100%  non refundable.

Ergo I need the balances due this month or I’m afraid you are out with your deposit forfeited; and as Diana Ross sang "and there ain't nothin' I can do about it"

Please check my figures. If you think I've got it wrong , email me and we can sort it. Details of how to pay in second post.
Please also send an email when you've sent money.  Spangles60@outlook.com

Summary of costs

18 holes Sat            £135

Cost of meal Sat                £40 per head, Doesn't include drinks or tip.

36 holes Sunday       £180      18 holes £135

36 holes Monday          £65         18 holes £55

Beside your name is the amount I calculate that I now need from you THIS MONTH (July) and this is net of the deposits already received (shown in brackets).

My wife and I stayed at Petwood Hotel 2-3 years ago for our last phase of construction and it’s a good choice.

I have so many commitments in September next year that I don’t know if I can join you all, but I can heartily recommend the venues.

Thanks Tony,

Its not easy organising these events at the best of times, but at the moment its even more difficult, so your hard work is appreciated.

This clashes with another of my regular golf events so I'm probably going to only be able to play Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning before heading off. Frustrating as I've only played Seacroft once and am keen to get back, but these things happen.

Despite restricted attendance, I'd very much like to be there for the golf and to see everyone, but if its easier for me to miss out this year due to partial attendance or numbers reaching the maximum then I can easily make way for others as I actually played Woodhall quite a few times this and last year and also stayed at the Petwood Hotel, so I know what a good time you will all have!

Cheers,

James

Thanks for organising, Tony.  I’ve only seen the Hotchkin 1/3 through its changes and Seacroft when it was 1/5 through and can’t wait to see the further changes.  Please count me in for all 5 rounds. I’ll contact the hotel shortly.

Hi Tony,

I will probably only make the Saturday event and meal as I am in a similar position to Boony.

Another course nearby that might be worth a visit is Sleaford GC which is on a sandy surface starts and finishes with a short par 4 - I have always enjoyed it as a hidden gem.

Lincoln - the old area and the cathedral are worth a visit if you are interested in history.

Happy to sort out an extra trip to Luffenham Heath (or even Rutland Water) its about 1 hr 15 mins away from Woodhall. Maybe the Friday before the event.

Cheers
Ben

The Golf Hotel (even closer to the course) are closed for next 10 days but have 12 rooms reserved for us. The Manager said she would pop in at some point and send me an email with the rates and how to book.   More info as soon as I have it.

Unless someone has a negative reason I'm thinking of reserving space in the  Curry House in Woodhall on Sunday night? If you know anything please get in touch.

Email me at md1950malone@gmail.com to discuss other courses to play. Jack and I want to find a way to play some of the Southport/Liverpool links beauties we have had to postpone twice.

We are hoping that Philly to Manchester flights are brought back but if not courses around London become more likely.

We are open to any ideas.
