I'll be amazed if this ever happens. The fact that, after all these years, it's still the local council behind it, is not a good sign. I cannot believe that the council is actually going to develop it itself. So where's the money coming from?

Come on Adam, don’t you recall how the development of Balmedie saved the Aberdeen economy in the midst of the great recession ? And what about that proposed development at the far end of nowhere called Embo ? Allegedly that will not only greatly boost the economy but also save the planet !!!
 
OK, I’m being ever so slightly facetious but what’s the problem with the Council promoting this venture ? (ignoring any planning/environmental concerns for the moment).

Niall -- promoting is one thing, funding is another. Do you really think that local authorities should be spending ratepayers' money on something as risky as a golf development?

Frankly no. However, only having scanned the attached link, I don't think it said anything about the Council developing or even funding the development. What they might be doing (and I really don't know) is promoting the site through the planning system with a view to a sale to a developer in much the same way North Ayrshire did with what became Dundonald. I think that a more likely scenario than them developing themselves in this or indeed any other financial climate.

Niall -- yes of course. My point is that the council has been plugging this 'project' for more than five years, and has repeatedly said that they expect to announce a development partner in the near future, yet doesn't seem to have one even now. To me, that says no-one in the private sector wants to put any money into it!
