Members often deliberately play adjacent fairways on TOC.

Conwy 9th is a 540-yard dog-leg par five which is greatly shortened by driving down the 8th fairway. Unfortunately for members' golf an internal OOB is imposed.

Actually Mark, I think EVERYBODY plays into adjacent fairways on the Old Course.  My favorite is the second on 14 out into the 5th.  It's actually a favorable angle from there.

That's the only way to play that hole, good angle to the green.
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

On the 3rd hole at UofM many longer hitters will hit it down #4 fairway to greatly reduce the yardage into the green.  A better angle and stance is gained.  I believe during college tourneys they make it OB.  I'll have to get some photos.  #3 is prob my all time favorite par 5 that I've played.

Unless you can play like the pros I saw at the 2005 Open and just blow mid irons up to the green, even with the tee on the Eden course.   :-X

In 1953 at the Open at Carnoustie, Hogan hit his tee shots from the 4th onto the 15th to get a better angle to the green.
