With the USGA's announcement of the inagural US Senior Women's Open set for 2018, what type of venues do you think we will see considered?

My initial thought was that this could potentially open up some historic venues supposedly made anachronistic by a lack of length. One way to get me interested as a spectator would be to use courses that you wouldn't see tournament golf played at otherwise.

I suppose the venues chosen will be a function of which clubs offer to make their course available to the USGA to stage the event. It remains to be seen whether the "historic venues" will choose to do so.

They played the women's Senior Amatuer a few years ago at Pasatiempo.  The 36 hole qualifier was amazing with numerous scores in the 90s and I think some didn't break 100.

Yeah, I think this is a concern. Then again, it's certainly going to be a much smaller commitment than a Men's Open, or even the Sr Men's Open.

Ir never occurred to me there was no Senior Women's Open - but it seems so obvious there ought to be one since there is a U.S. Senior Women's Amateur. Normoyle's wife will be eligible in 2018 - assuming the cut-off is 50, not 55. If that is the case, anybody want to bet me 5:1 odds?

I'll take Dottie Pepper, you can have the field - I don't give a shit who else is playing. Juli Inkster and Laura Davies will be 58 by then, so I'm feeling pretty good about that bet.
