Those that have tried to find Ray's Pizza in New York will understand that there is only one original.

Welcome to this year's iteration of the Photos of the Year Contest.

Here are the rules:

1.  One submission per contestant (for posts with multiple photos, unless you designate your entry we're going to take the first photo);

2.  Photos have to have been taken in 2013 (with the caveat that any photos from 2012 that were taken after last year's contest ended are admissible - we'll call this the Joe Stansell rule);

3.  Submission period will run until December 21st (photo must be posted, not linked);

4.  Following the submission period, the Committee will choose five photos as the finalists (to be posted on the 23rd), in each of two divisions, (A) one for golf course related photos, and (B) one for the people and traditions of the game;

5.  Voting on the finalists will be open to all with one vote per participant (votes can be submitted by PM or by post on this thread any time between the 23rd and the 31st);

6.  The winners will be announced on January 1st and will receive a small token prize in recognition of this incredible achievement; and

7.  You're allowed to nominate a picture taken by someone else, and that picture is eligible for the contest and does not count as the photographer's submission.  It does count as your submission.  The prize would go to the actual photo taker, not the submitter.

As always, these rules are subject to change at any time due to the whim of the Chairman.

This year's committee is comprised of the Chairman and last year's winners (Leo Barber, Gib Papazian and Jeff Blume), if they choose to participate.

To kick things off, here are the past champions:

This would be my submission after I found a better picture of the eerie sky on my camera...

NSW Golf Club, where mid-round the sun suddenly turned dark due to the horrible Sydney bushfires

I also love this one, taken obviously on the incomparable 5th hole of Barnbougle Dunes

Ronald,

Do you have that same shot with a wider angle lens (and smaller aperture) so the Magic Windmill is also in focus? A little more depth of field and you'd have "winner winner chicken dinner." The sepia looks trippy and very appropriate for the subject matter; my entry has a similar visual texture.

If I have to ask how to get a photo posted on these threads am I already disqualified? I must be a total fool with technology because for the life of me I can't figure it out.

These are some damn good photos already. Thanks for posting.
