Clear Creek

I understand work on toughening Clear Creek is being done.

Are Coore Crenhaw doing it?

I understand probably not opening this year.  Any news out there on this Tahoe project?

Brad,

I know nothing about the who, but am curious as to why someone is "toughening" it.  Was it too easy before?

I heard from a C & C crew member that the course is rising from the ashes with great owners and C & C will be up there.  Nothing mentioned of toughening, but he  said rough grass was being removed that was.never intended.  Great news all.around.

Can't wait to see what the model that they use up there is.

That side of the lake is a pretty tough market for a private club. As a quasi-local, I know I'm very interested!

I doubt this is true.  It should be more fun than tough.

Over the last few weeks, I heard that the owner, Textron Financial was close to selling the property.  The club is closed (it never opened this year) and is operating with a small crew.

Having played the course, I seriously can't imagine anyone coming in and asking for the course to be tougher.

The course is not being "toughened."  Quite the opposite - there will be some new intermediate tees added on some holes.  The majority of the work will concentrate on bunker restoration, rough management and agronomic improvements to increase the firmness of the fairways.

More news should be coming soon, but it will be good to have Clear Creek up and running again!

I'm glad to hear the course will get the TLC it so richly deserves, after suffering neglect so early in its promising life.

Info was from a member/property owner, and don't know if I have confidence in his assessment of the golfing operations. I do undstand there is a new owner and don't know what model they will use although rumored to be a public - private conglomeration.

Clear Creek is so much better than Edgewood, I am surprised that none of the casinos haven't stepped up to buy it and limo out their high rollers to play there.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Why buy a golf course when it takes people out of the casino? If you want to golf and the casino thinks you are worth taking care of, they will get you where ever you want to go.

What do you think this is, Vegas?

Tim, the casino industry is dying (if not dead) in Reno and SLT. They aren't going to be buying a golf course any time soon.

Credit these pics to Joe Jemsek from his twitter account. He was there this past weekend. Looks to be in good shape, considering.
