Mike, Golfweek does not use the Doak scale.  As for the disparity in Canyatta's rankings, the 2 magazines have different value systems and often differ.  Case in point in the same state, Rich harvest .  Top 50 Golf Digest, Isuspect nowhere near that status at Golfweek.   Take your choice.

for reference here's the 2007 list.  2011 looks real thin in comparison....

Wow... amazing how the list goes down in size and quality 2007 > 2009 > 2011.

The 2007 list was very impressive... a couple that I've played and a bunch that I'd love to!

I had always thought that one of the reasons lists like this were important was to promote and reward top notch architecture.   When the list hypes courses that get ratings in the 4's  :o, the list is too long.

Just my opinion,

There must have been nothing to choose from, because I played #25 Shining Rock earlier in the fall and it wasn't good. Borderline really bad.

One would think a rating of 6 should be the cutoff for this type of list.  Time to switch to a "New Courses of Note" list....

feels about right.   my only comment is that i think both of the TPC San Antonio courses are WAY too high.    Both of the courses had all of the negatives of TPC courses without any of the positives.

The two that I would have expected to be higher from buzz and photos are Awarii Dunes and Sequoyah National. Any thoughts?
