12 teams. I guess you could say we had a home field advantage...played it in my hometown at the four courses at Fairfield Glade Resort. In that one we mixed it up pretty good. Four ball, foursomes and 2 man scramble. Credit my partner at the time for his phenomenal play on the Sunday at Stonehenge. He made everything he looked at!

Just busting your chops, E. The only way I could be more stoked for the 5th Major would be if Natalie Gulbis showed up........

A little advice.  Take your time driving up to Mullen.  The drive from I-80 north is awe inspiring.  Some of the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen, and it starts about 5 miles north of North Platte.  (Apparently, NE-61 is an amazing drive too)

Take in the scenery from your cabin.  Enjoy the song of the Western Meadowlark.  Enjoy the light show at night (you'll never have seen so many stars).  Enjoy the fire by the DR clubhouse.

Drink lots of water, use lots of sunscreen, and have fun!!!

I thought the whole point of "handicapping" was to put players on equal terms.

That's precisely right, Kalen: the systems works just fine for individual players. It doesn't work for multiple player games. The answer is either to adjust down (the number I usually see is 80%) or to have a pot for gross, so that what the low handicaps piss away and never have a chance to win in the net game, they get back in the gross game.

This is also why every member guest I have ever played in was flighted and usually has a requirement of no more than 8 stroke differential between partners.

Actually the ultimate unbeatable team is a consistant low handicappers with a wild and erratic 22.   He will make more pars than he should (offset by many doubles and triple) plus by playing with a low cappers, his usually improve 4 or 5 stroke just on course management.

Only on course activities will be recorded. It should be to no ones surprise that lies will be told and legends grown as stories circulate across the globe. Pictures can only lead to trouble as plausible deniability becomes worthless in the face of fact.

The Dismal Devil got a coworker on the line at Toyota pregnant.  His baby momma has him by the horns and as such will not be attending.

Bogey,

Looks like I'll miss you by a day.  I plan to be at Bayside at about 2 PM the day before.

As for Handicaps:

... still makes me crack up to see the fear and loathing of a 3 capper when faced with giving a stroke per hole to a guy who can only find the fairway 25% of the time and gets GIRs at an even lower % than that.

I can't tell if we're really supposed to give our hdcp or just whine about not getting, or giving strokes ;D
For the record, young Ryan is a 0.7 and old me is a 7.

7 is our lucky number

I've got a friend at Edwin Watts corporate, he used to manage one of the locations here in Houston, I was telling him about 5th Major and I've got something pretty cool for everyone, if you go to Edwinwatts.com and use the promo code 5THMAJOR you will get a nice little discount.

Coming from Denver, is it better to get to Ogallala and go north or go to North Platte and head up from there?
