  • Roy Kizer (x6, Randy Russell)

Hollywood Golf Club - exceeded expectations.  #16 one of the prettiest holes I have ever played.  looked like course doesn't get much play

Wannamoisett - reminded me of Oak Hill; First 3 holes a very special start

The Kittansett Club - really an inland course excepting the first few and last few holes on Buzzards Bay.

Hudson National Golf Club - home course

Willow Ridge Country Club

Deepdale Golf Club - some of the quickest greens I have ever played

Edgewood Country Club White

Bayonne Golf Club - tightness of first few holes often sets me off on the wrong foot.  hard to recover from.

Whippoorwill Club - super sporty and unique

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club - not much I can add here

Knocked out a few spots in the last 6+ weeks:

Old Elm Club
Naperville CC
The Rawls Course
CommonGround
Colorado Golf Club
Chicago Golf Club
North Shore CC
Lake Shore CC
Chicago Highlands
Exmoor CC

Since the TX/CO trip, I have been staying closer to home and enjoying our Chicagoland courses.  I don't think I give Chicago enough credit for the really solid golf we have (if one has access to the privates), especially with the renovation/restoration work that has been done around town in the last 10-15 years.  LSCC and ECC were vastly superior to what I remember as a teenager - kudos to Ron Prichard.

With all due respect to the above courses, the highlight of this last stretch for me was what I saw (and the 6 holes I got to play) at Sand Valley.  Oh my...

I did ... though sadly I did not have time to play that morning.  What a beautiful place it is!  In fact, all four courses I saw in New Hampshire exceeded my expectations by varying degrees.

Tom,

I've played up and down the eastern seaboard but never in New Hampshire, which I'm hoping to rectify sometime next year.

Any there that you'd care to recommend based on your recent travels?

Jason,

Great pics. I'm surprised by how open it looks. For some reason I was imagining a look like Pine Valley - a little more choked with pines. Cant' wait to visit.

One of the nice things about moving every couple of years is the opportunity to check out some new courses.  This will be the first place I'll be joining a private club instead of playing the muni's or base courses.

2) Dayton CC (OH) - 6 (I really loved the front 9)
3) Springfield CC (OH) - 5

Did you make it to Bald Peak?

I did ... though sadly I did not have time to play that morning.  What a beautiful place it is!  In fact, all four courses I saw in New Hampshire exceeded my expectations by varying degrees.

Last ten I actually played [updated from last month]:

Chambers Bay, WA
Tumble Creek, WA
Gamble Sands, WA
Wine Valley, WA
Valley of the Eagles, Alaska

York Golf & Tennis, ME
Rutland CC, VT
Hooper GC, NH
Lake Sunapee, NH
Belgrade Lakes, ME
Northeast Harbor, ME

I am up to 54 rounds this year ... I cannot remember the last year I played that many rounds of golf.

Curious about your thoughts on Gamble Sands. I think its very very good but perhaps could have been truly great with some more interest in and around the greens.

Just recovering from the annual play as much golf in the US as I can possibly cram into a couple weeks tour.

Hit some really awesome courses and was storm chasing so was even rained out of some painful courses to miss.

Played:

Inverness Golf Club
Brookside Golf & Country Club
Muirfield Village
The Golf Club
Camargo
Eastward Ho
Old Sandwich
The Country Club at Brookline
Harbour Town
TPC Sawgrass
Wade Hampton
Mountain Top
Roaring Gap
Old Town
Mid Pines
Tobacco Road
Pinehurst #2
Dormie Club

Walked OSU Scarlet during the Web.com event that happened to be on while I was in Dublin and was rained out of Myopia, Essex and Newport while in the Boston area. Arrived at Myopia early in the morning with rain falling in the biblical sense. Bad day for a double header. Then the hurricane dropped 25 inches+ on Kiawah (that used to be an Island), flooded it and even shut it down to make sure I didn't play a round with my snorkel. I reverted and drove to TPC Sawgrass. Not a bad move but added about 6 hours of driving.

All Illinois unless noted

Mount Propsect (5x)
Schaumburg GC
River Forest CC
Ravisloe (2x)
Olympia Fields CC North
Riverside CC (Saskatchewan, Canada)
Crystal Tree CC
Idlewild CC
Lost Dunes (MI)
Arcadia Bluffs (MI)

Great run to end the season here. Riverside is a course I have not seen much talk about here, probably because it's kind of in the boonies. But it's a really great club which has hosted national tournaments in Canada.
