Bethpage Black
NGLA
Maidstone
Baltusrol (Lower)
Sebonack
Pine Valley
Merion
Shinnecock Hills
The Meadow Club

Actually folks I would suggest Pine Valley is the odd one out due to their attitude toward women golfers in the year 2012

Sean what does you're 1*, 2* and recommended mean?  Also I assume most list their last 10 courses, without considering replays.

3* Don’t Miss For Any Reason
2* Plan A Trip Around This Course
1* Worth An Overnight Detour
R  If In The General Vicinity And Can’t Get On A Big Gun Look Up First (rule of thumb is not to be in the car any longer than it takes to play and have drinks - roughly 5 hours)
r  A Good Fall Back On Course If In The Immediate Area
NR  Not Recommended

A rough idea of how I come up with the above rating scheme:
COURSE (all aspects including beauty) ~60%
HISTORY, LOCATION, CLUB etc ~20%
PRICE ~20%

Hey Mike -- All pretty close, except Banff! Very cool, how did you like it?

Also, played Biderman for the first time this fall. Loved the whole experience, but not overwhelmed with the course itself.

Finally, what's going on at #16 at St. Davids? Redoing that green?

Sean Leary,

Women play Pine Valley all the time....just saying.........

Is this actually the case?

My understanding is that women are provided access to the course on Sunday afternoons only.
If this policy has been amended to provide more flexible playing arrangements this is good to hear.
However if the Sunday afternoon ‘only’ rule remains, it is my view this is a policy that is out of touch with our time.
