1.  Out of the 1275 registered posters, I'd say 400 do not participate, used to participate but no longer do or read a lot of the posts but hardly ever chime in.  So lets call it 875 potentially active posters (probably an overestimate).  This thread has 157 replies in less than two days.  If 100 of those 157 provided a list, we're looking at over 10% of the DG responding.  I'm fine with the sample size.  

2.  You'd be right that I had not heard about the courses you noted.  I have now.  Is your point that these courses are somehow not worthy of being discussed on this site?  I doubt that is the case, as they've contributed in some way to the wealth of knowledge you bring to the table.

3.  Part of this exercise was to point out the diversity in courses played by the members of the group, not just the quality.  I actually found the local course knowledge more interesting than the courses that were part of a travel itinerary, as the destination courses rarely contained a surprise.  We all have our constraints on getting out to play (time, money, weather), but its interesting to me to see where people choose to play when they get their golf window.  I love Lahinch, but I don't get to play it that often.  The course that has more value to me is the course I pick when I have a free afternoon.

I don't understand why anyone would participate in a thread like this.  It is an embarrassment, though I am curious to know which Doak client got him on Augusta National.  If one of you who has speculated on IM would care to reveal who, please do.  The one thing I learned about myself is that my Mother was most likely right, if all my friends jumped off a bridge I would have probably followed. I have had to fight the urge to list it up myself.

I so miss the days when guys like Huckaby and Gib would go on and on about how difficult it is to play those courses they didn't feel like visiting but did so for the good of the game.  I know it was all part of the con but it made me feel like I was part of something special.  Now I just feel dirty.

The last ten courses I didn't play for various reasons.

Some of these lists are pretty amazing. Mine is definitely more "average." Just goes to show that interest in gca isn't confined to those who play famous courses.

This list goes back to last October. I also played 9 holes at SeaScape (the back nine was closed for aeration) during my OBX tour. My favorite course on the list is the Cavalier because of its classic character.

The only one on that list that is really bad is Highland National.

Everything else is at least decent. Blackberry Ridge is a Goldstrand that has a stupid first hole and a super tight third hole, but also has a bunch of decent holes. Hawks Landing is a John Harbottle that grew on me as the round went along. Massive fairways, but there were clearly parts of the fairway that gave you a much, much easier approach shot.

TPC Twin Cities, Bracketts and Hastings are all plenty fine in my estimation. I don't love TPC Twin Cities, but I like it more than I did. My round at Bracketts was my first there in seven or eight years and I think it is all right. Hastings has a few too many trees in spots and the first third of the course is pretty boring, but the back nine is pretty fun.
