Duncan, talk to me about Manchester.
Ciao
Sean,
We need to see Manchester.
From what I understand it is almost entirely original Colt and was considered one of the top inland courses in the country 100 years ago.
My only visit was earlier this year in poor weather with most greens on temps. It was enough to confirm however, that this is a serious golf course of quality. Think of Cavendish on steroids - the moorland setting is similar but the scale is breathtaking.
I can only imagine that it is not better known or rated because it is wild, windswept, and not particularly 'pretty'. That was my impression in January, anyway. A sunny day in July or August might cause me to revise my view.
Let's do it!
PS Two other courses in this area that you should see are Sandiway and Pleasington. You would find an awful lot to like.
