I recently picked up the 2010 edition of the above referenced book and have thoroughly enjoyed every page so far although not yet finished. There is a star studded list of GCA types as contributors including Ran, Ben Cowan-Dewar, Mark Rowlinson,Tom Doak,Mike Clayton, Dan Wexler, Rich Goodale, and Ulrich Mayring. There is something for everyone from the great courses themselves by region to an introduction that discusses the different eras , the architects, routing and design, greens and bunkers etc. Plenty is packed into 320 pages including text, photos and diagrams. As a reference guide and an introduction to understanding the origins of golf this book is fantastic. What say those that own a copy?

I own it.  I love it.  They packed a hell of a lot of stuff into those 320 pages, just like you said.

I refer to it often and it occupies a permanent spot on my bedside table.

It's one of my favourite golf books - the routing maps are fantastic as is the text.

I've got three versions and the latest is by far the best one.

Same here, Matt. I was just re-reading Rich Goodale's Ballybunion and Waterville write-ups in anticipation of my trip to Ireland this fall. Speaking of which, check out this photo taken today of the 17th at Tralee by Brian Sheehy. Does this not cause you to want to drop everything and hop on a plane??

Pete-I searched for a prior thread and didn`t come up with this. Sorry. On the bright side the 2010 is the first in paperback and does contain new information. :)
