Golfers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and ages and desires.
Trajectory of shots is important.

Physically weaker and/or lessor players rarely have the ability to hit the ball high.
Physically stronger and/or better players usually have the ability to hit the ball high.


Thoughts in relation to course architecture, set-up, maintenance and conditioning?

I’d like to see a reversible course that plays aerial in one direction and ground game the other.

It feels like pros are flighting the ball more than I remember in the recent past. Not sure if they’ve sort of learned when not to use the high knuckleball mid-irons we see with modern equipment.


Personally speaking I’m trying to find a way to hit the ball lower on center strikes and increase spin. I think the shark has been jumped a bit with the high ball in my personal use case (I’m either playing golf at high altitude or in links conditions it seems).


This opens a whole can of worms about club-fitting in general, particularly irons. Using a 6-iron (that’s likely around 27-28 degrees) to fit an iron set is a horrendous development.
