Wouldn't have been a problem with an earlier finish. Blame NBC and the east coast audience.

I agree that finishing into the sun is a problem. I also don't like starting into the sun, which happens a lot as well. Either way, you have to hit shots with the sun dead in your face if you tee off semi-early or are trying to squeeze a round in late.

Either way it is a deal with the course. That hole plays directly into the sun for groups finishing late afternoon. Not an ideal situation.

If your clubhouse is at the western end of a narrow property, you don't have much of a choice, do you?

That requires that there be sun.  For those of us who live here, we know that it doesn't happen too frequently.  >:(

Also, tomorrow is the longest day of the year, the sun starts moving south and it won't be straight into it for long.

Well, not once the clubhouse is built. But there are probably other places that clubhouses could be built on a given piece of property...

It only effects a handful of golfers. That is a great hole, don't let 30 minutes of the day discredit it.

I'm just being a jerk. My only chance to act that way is on this site. Everywhere else it has bad consequences.

Its certainly not ideal, but I think in certain situations you live with it. Pebble's 18th is worth this issue, especially given that its likely only an issue for a relatively short time each year as JVB mentions we are at the longest days of the year.

Mike,

Originally, they were going to finish heading south, but, SCUBA gear hadn't been invented yet.

You're looking at this in the context of guys finishing after 8:00 pm on one of the longest days of the year.

I've played PB over a dozen times and never had a problem with the sun being in my eyes.

PB is a great golf course no matter how you glare at it.
