(Somewhat O/T - we talk a lot about GCA, but not as much about setups and how to play / adapt)Came across a great picture of Seminole (post renovation)
http://media.campaigner.com/media/57/577660/2020/4_19_20sundaynew/Seminole-640.jpgMade me think about my current clubs and their performance at a course like Seminole, Pinehurst #2 or others that have removed areas of rough for natural / sand / waste areas.
I tend to play a thin soled, blade like iron. Sure these courses will have low areas that get wet and turn into hardpan and don't require much adaptation from normal conditions.
In this picture you can see areas right off the fairway with softer sand.
Even if you're good at picking the ball, the odds aren't in your favor and likely to catch many a bit fat or thin making for a long day.
For courses like these, do you change your setup for the style of course?2nd set of clubs with thicker soles?different wedge setup with more (or less) bounce? More hybrids in the bag vs. long irons?
