Wasn’t this course expanded to 18 by WPJr?

My bad.  New Bedford was WPJ, as noted in the recent thread.

Part of the property of the Lake Placid Club.  The 1926 Annual Guide noted there were two 18 hole courses, two 9 hole courses, a 9 hole practice course, a 9 hole obstacle course and 4 9 hole putting courses.

Sven,

What is the history on the first version of Miami Valley? The second map you posted is today's golf course, which was the last to hold the PGA Championship at Match Play.

Kyle:

The details on the first map note "Revised Lines of Golf Course" and a date of Sept. 20, 1915.  The second one is dated Sept. 1915.

Best guess is that they were contemplating a different layout.

The following three Maps show 1) A section of the original 1915 design of Cobb's Creek Golf Course, 2) The same section used in 1953 to plan the re-routing of the course (see Pencil Markings) when a sizable chunk of the property was leased to the Army for a Air Defense Base, and 3) the Re-Routed course as played in the 1955 & 1956 PGA Tour Daily News Opens indicating the Military Installation in the lower left.
