Criss, what did you think of The Quarry in Canton? I've played it a few times and have enjoyed it. Although not my ideal course because of the difficulty of walking, it does have some wild land movement and several interesting holes.
I thought on the whole it was quite good, but there are a couple dud holes keeping it from being my favorite Ohio public. Also, it's pretty unrealistic to walk, which drops it slightly in my book.
I'd like to get another viewing of hole 13 and see if my (bad) opinion of it changes. That's the one where you have a downhill lie to a green that rises by at least 30-40 feet. I'm not sure how slower swing speed golfers finish that hole by the rules of golf. I guess you could call me a hypocrite because I really like 15 at Canterbury, and it has similar characteristics, although 13 at The Quarry is a longer hole with a narrower fairway.
The par 5 15th, on the other hand, may be one of the best par 5's I've played IMO. Great land movement, and all scores from 3 upwards are possible.
High praise for T&C among those courses...thank's Criss.
I very well could be skewing it higher because of my Mashie win. But I'd like to think that it meshed well with my like of older courses with good quirk. One of the more interesting places I've played for sure.
