Los Angeles Golf

I will be in Los Angeles from November 25 (Wednesday) through November 28 (Saturday) and am looking to play golf once or twice during my visit.  Please PM me if you would be interested in playing.  I am also looking for suggestions of where to play.  I am sure Rustic Canyon will be mentioned once or twice.  Thanks.

Where in L.A.? The valley definitely offers the best golf and Rustic is the best public option. Public golf in L.A. is actually not that great, you're gonna have to drive a little ways (again, depending on where you are) to find some good golf. Maybe the only exception is Rancho.

I'll be visting the area during the same time period.  Lets see if we can't get a round at Rustic Canyon going.  Friday or Saturday would work best for me, preferrably Friday.  I'm staying in Yorba Linda so I'll be aways out but don't mind the drive over.

Kalen,
Drive to Moorpark (forty minutes) and play Rustic Canyon.
Then drive to Ventura (one hour) and play Olivas Links.
On another day drive to Ojai (one and a half hours) and play Soule Park.
You will play excellent golf for bargain rates.
These are the three best courses in the area that are public and are all outstanding.

I don't know how much golf you'll be playing, but Oak Quarry shouldn't be more than half an hour from you. It's priced fairly and well-worth a play. No one likes traffic  :)

There have been a couple threads on here in the past 6-8 months... might want try and find them.  A couple other courses, which I think are worth checking out - AFTER playing Rustic Canyon - are Angeles National (Nicklaus) and Industry Hills.  Both are manageable drives from Yorba Linda.  If you need to stay local, you have Black Gold, which is nothing special but it's golf nonetheless.

Recreation Park and Santa Anita are definitely worth a look, although Casey I-Should-Be-Banned, er, I mean Casey O'Callaghan just performed some malpractice on Santa Anita. San Clemente is not far from Yorba Linda, so I'd throw that in as well.

I will be staying at my sister's house which is near the Hollywood/West Hollywood border.  I am supposed to play Riviera and it looks like Rustic Canyon is a good option.  Anything else in that general area?

Unless you can get on to LA North too, you've got the cream of the crop. Angeles National is a good play, and if you want some crazy try Lost Canyons. That's 36 holes of Couples/Dye golf, hard as hell but fun nonetheless.

Palos Verdes CC, built in 1924 by Billy Bell with some George Thomas input allows outside play during the week. Very good course in excellent condition. I believe you can only play after noon; the unaccompanied rate is $225.

YEAH PETE!!!

I'm a Palos Verdes native and played their dozens of times as junior! Great course, but if you're gonna spend that kind of money, maybe not the place to do it.

Conditions are great and all, but I just never thought it was worth that kind of dough, but if that doesn't matter that's definitely my #3 for the L.A. area. Ocean views from approx. 10 holes and a great design.

Santa Anita is great little muni with some interesting GCA. Home of a pre Kings Putter tourney.

Thanks, we did indeed end up playing Black Gold, which had some interesting holes...but a few wtf holes as well.  If it had a bit more width it would have been much funner but the death left and death right on most holes made for a somewhat long round.
