Golf Architecture Books
« on: September 30, 2005, 01:16:05 PM »
Has anyone seen the new edition of Micheal Hurdzan's Golf Architecture? I have the original edition and have met him several times, but just saw that there is a new edition out, and I was wondering if it is worth getting.

Also, what are some of everybody's favorite golf books? golf architecture books?

welcome Don :)

like the logo thread, this has been discussed previously

off the top of my head:

the good Doctor's "Golf Architecture"

Doak's "Anatomy of a Golf Course"

"The Architectural Side of Golf"

just thought of this:  when will Coore and Crenshaw write such a book???

Not sure I follow what you mean by the "logo thread"

I have "Anatomy of A Golf Course" and "Golf Architecture" and i agree on their pedigree.

What do you think of Grounds for Golf?

Another book that I stumbled upon was "Driving the Green," I read it a few years ago, but it does a nice job of covering a course construction from conception to completetion. Only problem, there were probably less than half a dozen photos in the book.

Don -- when you start a new topic, at least here, it's called a thread...what I meant is that fairly recently someone started a thread with a similar question as yours

I think I still have not read Grounds for Golf...and I read Driving the Green a LONG time and, candidly, think I found it a little dry
