My other passions also center upon sports...

For years I have watched the Cubs lose from behind the plate at Wrigley...

Unfortunately their performance as of late has equaled that of my golf game.

Also like Jim I live for Fighting Illini basketball.

My family followed in no particular order by Jazz (seeing what I hope is a great concert tonight at Millenium Park in Chicago), baseball (Cubs vs. the surging Cardinals next Monday) and the Badgers (daughter is a junior following in her parents footsteps--sometimes a little to closely for parental comfort).

I just set up a Saturday tee time at a course in a given town so I can attend a WWE Raw event the night before.

WWE is fake, John.

Really, it is.

My wife and daughters (obviously).

The St. Louis Cardinals.

My house, and other homes.  I always have home improvements projects I am working on or considering, and I enjoy trying to make my home better and more enjoyable.  In addition, I enjoy studying the history of architecture of houses and taking house tours.  (Some call this adult pornography.)

Movies.

Classical music.  But only listening to and attending concerts.  I am not into studying the literature of classical music.

Politics.  Although I do have my own political leanings, I also enjoying reading about all political leanings and types.

Reading newspapers and listening to radio news (i.e. NPR, BBC, & CSPAN radio).

great to see there are other hockey fans out there. i love playing a friendly game on the pond or in the rink and watching both the nhl and college ranks play, especially the Detroit Red Wings, the cornell big red, and the michigan wolverines

also love rock and roll, college football (GO BLUE), photography, architecture, the great lakes, and the spontaneous creation of games--especially those by the sea

Reallly, this is all I think about................

Did somebody mention surfing?

My hobbies are reading, occasionally chess, and travelling to Italy whenever possible for the food, wine and ambience.  My obsession is golf, golf history and golf architecture.  There is a major difference.  ;)

Watching most any sports in HD, but especially the Minnesota Vikings and LA Lakers in my newly finished (or nearly so) Vikings shrine room.

Playing with our kids.

And last but not least my two favorite hobbies Eating and Sleeping.  Of course eating includes good beer or wine in my book.

By the way Dan had I not moved and still been up in Erie as I once was the shrine room above might very likely have been a Bills or Sabres shrine.  I was a Bills season ticket holder from about '90 - '93.  And what a great time to be a Bills fan, I didnt have to put up with the early years, I came in right on the ground floor of the runner-up dynasty.

Notre Dame Football

However at this very moment of my life, just when I thought I was out, they dragged me back in--that being my friends from the sport of Drag Racing.

Started racing when I was 11 years old with a neighborhood friend, kept it going all the way until I was 22, then stopped for about 5 years. Got the bug bad again then lost it agan, only to get it back again and that's where I am now.

Where is now?

Well, I'm typing this from Seattle, as we are racing this weekend.  at Pacific Raceways. We're trying to make it two in a row as we won our last race in Spokane two weeks ago.

Tommy, we've discussed this many times before, but it remains a mystery to me how someone can be so wise about baseball and so sadly misguided about college football.

Ahhh, variety is the spice of life.  But I swear man, no one will ever know you had these misguided allegiances.. come on over to the home town team.. you know, the one that actually competes for and wins national championships rather than talks about such from decades gone by?

Now there's a wise man.

Kinda nice being pre-season #1, isn't it Stan?  Tommy likely has no clue what that's like.. it sure would require a LONG memory.

Another extremely wise man.  Add that to my list.  And I also kinda like the Illini... dated a girl who went there way back when.  Memories....

In your honor that is my Big Ten team for this season.  Notre Dame haters need to stick together anyway.

Oh sure Huckaby, jump on the bandwagon.... ::)

As far the number 1 preseason rating, don't mean much if you can't get past the carnival/circus/madhouse called the BCS boys to actually get in the big game...   ;D

Jumping on the bandwagon equates to rooting for a team since birth?  I guess you could have said that 43 years ago, I mean USC was winning national championships then... so guilty as charged.

 ;D

Of course rankings at the end of the season are the coin of the college football realm, and those at the beginning are mere curiousities... and no big fan of the BCS am I... but still, it's something so far out of Notre Dame's universe, it is worth pointing out for Domer Naccarato.

NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL
And for you Domer haters out there, get your own exclusive network tv contract then pop-off. At least the Irish have a history and it doesn't include OJ.

LA LAKER BASKETBALL
At least until Kobe leaves. Maybe Magic will buy the team before Jerry and Mitch turn them into the Clippers.

Pizza/ In & Out Burgers
Any style, anywhere, anytime
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Oh sure Huck,

You probably forged your own birth certificate just so you could root for them..   ;)

It is nice to root against Notre Dame every Saturday.  Thats the only reason I can figure they keep putting them on National TV every year is for all the ND haters...  :D

Huckaby, I am betrayed.

Darn - sorry man.  Well I still have a lot of love for Penn State.  And hell, no offense to the Illini boys in here, but they're no threat.

 ;D

Tim:  add that to the lengthy list of reasons to hate ND:  their own TV contract.  But at least Kalen did identify a great reason why they have it - so us haters can root for our adopted team each week, and see them thump the Irish.  It sure as hell can't be based on success of ND!  And nice use of the OJ trump card - that sure took a long time.  ND is just 100% full of saints.   ;)

In any case, you reminded me I need to amend my list.  I have two favorite college football teams:  USC and whoever's playing Notre Dame.

Although I must admit, the latter is getting kind of boring... it surely was more fun when ND was actually decent.
