Indian Hills golf course,  an early 18 hole Perry Maxwell course (1924) in Catoosa, Oklahoma that has fallen on hard times and was  hit hard by a huge tornado 10 years ago, has announced that they are going to destroy 9 of the holes for the expansion of the casino and are going to remodel the existing 9 holes. No mention on  whether or not the 9 holes will be intact from the front 9 or back 9 or a combination of them.

I have played this course and while the course conditions were awful, it is a wonderful routing with some outstanding holes.

Its truly a shame.

Wow, Is there any way to show these people that they will be destroying something of real value? Putting up another, I assume, Indian Casino is contrary to the trend of using golf to attract business.

I talked to the club a few months ago in my research and they thought this might happen, but they wanted to get the course into top condition first before trying to add on to the casino.  The tornado that hit there many feel was actually a blessing in disguise for the course as it cleared out many trees that overrun the line of play on holes.

They probably make a lot more money from the gambling than the golfing, so they feel they should build up that business first and just start from scratch on the course.  This course has suffered through mis-management for so many years, this is probably the final nail in the coffin for it.
