Two-Course Golf Clubs

I'm working on a project, and am looking for examples of  private golf clubs that own two or more courses that are separated from one another by more than a few miles.  Any suggestions?

It may be more of a resort than a private club (well I guess it's both), but Cordillera in the mountains of Colorado now has 3 courses plus a short course that are separated by a few miles from each other.

The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs - qualifies on 2 counts as it is a Resort set-up with private memberships ...

Baltimore Country Club.......the two courses are more than a few miles apart.

Welcome to GCA. I noticed this was your first post.

Not sure where you are posting from but there are several examples to which you refer that I can give.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, they are in Florida.

My Club in Florida has the East course near the Main Clubhouse and the Marina.
The West Course, which is 27 holes is on the other side of alternate A1A and it also has an additional Clubhouse.  Probably a 1/2 mile to get there.

 It is not anything like being at Pinehurst where 5 courses start and end at the same Clubhouse.  Now that I mention Pinehurst they have, I believe, three courses that are several miles away.

PGA National has several courses at the main location and at least one additional course several miles away.

Jonathan's Landing, also in Jupiter, Fl. has two courses on the main property and a third course a few miles away.  This is also a Private Club.

Cherokee Town and Country in Atlanta (This may be different than what you are seeking) has the downtown Club in Buckhead and 36 holes about 20? minutes away in Roswell.

Also the Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. has a course behind the main hotel (with Sam Snead's Bar hiding off the back end of the course) and the Cascades course a few miles away.

In Florida I think there are quite a few examples of what you are seeking.  Pinehurst also offers this model but is really a resort.
 
You'll have to dig and I think you will find what you are looking for.

The Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax, Nova Scotia operates 2 golf courses. The original "Old" course is located in Halifax proper and is probably 60-80 years old. A "New" course was built about 10-15 miles outside of town roughly 25 years ago.

The West at Merion Golf Club is about 2 miles down Ardmore Ave from The East and main clubhouse.

Welcome to GCA.  Old South CC in Lothian, MD recently purchased River Downs Golfers Club, a daily fee in Reisterstown, MD which I beleive they plan to turn private.

Also, I don't believe Five Farms East and West are separated by much and play from the same clubhouse.  Haven't played the West Course, but it's right there.

The Capital City Club in Atlanta has the main club in Buckhead and a new Tom Fazio Course out of town next to Atlanta National.  

Johns Island North and South (main club) are separated by 3 miles from Johns Island West.

Devil's Pulpit and Devil's Paintbrush (north of Toronto) are about 5 miles apart.

Ridglea CC in Fort Worth, the Men's course is a few miles south of the Family course (which is much older and many consider it more interesting and fun).

Barton Creek and Horseshoe Bay are multi-course private/resort clubs with a few miles separation between some of the courses.

French Lick has a not very good course at the hotel, and if I remember correctly, the Ross course is a few miles out.

Hot Springs Village is a retirement community in Arkansas with several private courses (must own property in the development), a number of which are separated by a few miles.

The Woodlands CC  ( www.thewoodlandscc.com) has the home Oaks/Pines courses separated from the TPC by about a mile, from the 27 holes at the Palmer Course separated by about 4 miles, and from the 18 at the Player  Course by about 7 miles.

Each has their own maintenance equipment, though sharing can occur.  

Each has their own Clubhouse and staff, but there's one director of golf.

We finally have a networked handicap system versus old GHIN system where each site was independent.

I'm surprised The Most Beloved Person In Golf has not responded to this inquiry.  

His former home club, The Country Club of Virginia, has a fine, although short, course at the location of the beautiful old main clubhouse.  Several miles away, the club has the James River Course and a newer course.  

The James River Course has been the site of two US Amateurs.

Let's hear more about this delightful set-up from Ran or John.  Also -- why no course profile on James River?

The Glasgow Golf Club in Scotland

Glasgow Killermont is located pretty close to the city centre whilst Glasgow Gailes in located next to Western Gailes on the coast near Irvine, a 40 minute car journey away.  Both excellant courses!

The Capital City Club in Atlanta has an in-town course (Brookhaven) and has just completed a course (Crabapple) about thirty miles north of town.

For about a year in the late '60's, the Atlanta Athletic Club had East Lake in town and the current Athletic Club courses about twenty miles north of town. The East Lake course was sold to a group of members who then started the East Lake Golf Club.

The Canongate clubs are scattered around the Atlanta area.  All are under the same ownership and while each has its own membership, one's privileges reach throughout all of the clubs.  Also within the whole structure are "sister clubs" which are often located near each other and  share memberships.  

The whole setup can be quite confusing, but it is a great and affordable way to have easy access to a bunch of golf courses (189 holes).  My club, Chapel Hills Country Club, has 18 holes in Douglasville and our sister club, Mirror Lake, has 27 holes (eventually to be 36) in nearby Villa Rica about 10-15 minutes away.

Army Navy Country Club in Virginia has one course in Arlington County and another in Fairfax county, maybe 10 miles away. From what I can I find using Google, the Arlington course dates to the 1920s and the Fairfax course from the 1990s.

           Maybe I can help with the answer to your questions.
I worked there for a total of ten years.

           Westhampton (in-town) is a Donald Ross original that installed a contiguous cart path throght the course, and Ran has expressed his thoughts on that in an earlier post about great short par 4's. I am not sure idf the course has been altered since I was there,(I left in 1989) but I do know that the practice area underwent a major upgrade and a resivoir was added. It was a joy to play when the only water was on tees and greens.

          James River and Tuckahoe Creek are 6 miles west of
Westhampton with it's own complete facilities. The James River Course (a Findlay and Flynn design-I thin0 was renovated and changed by O.F.W.B. (our favorite whipping boy) Rees Jones in 1991 or '02. and I can't say whether Ran has been there or not since then. IMHO, the course is better than it was before changes.

I'm not sure of the exact organizational structure and chart, but what about Firethorn in Lincoln Nebraska, (archie Pete Dye18 and Rod Whitman9) and Sand Hills, (archies Coore and Crenshaw); both under the stewartship of Dick Youngscap... both private clubs and about 300miles from eachother.
