Mayday,

Tom Paul has his priorities in a state that many would find difficult to understand outside this website's membership.  I, for one, am grateful that he is much more interested in golf architecture and writing the best (OK it is the first) book ever written on the golf courses of William Flynn than he is playing golf.  He is a terrific golfer though (not nearly as short off the tee as he maintains) and I would bet the house on him vs. Chairman.  However, let us not deflect him from his important task.  

My Christmas wish list has on it (besides NASDQ going back to 5000) that a plow interrupts the internet connection on his gentleman's farm and he puts his 10,000 words output per day towards the book project ;)  I am greedy; GCA's loss would be the book's gain!

I thought it was interesting that perhaps the most open debate on US golf courses was with Bethpage with Tillinghast, Burbeck and Rees...  Since it's a public course everyone could be honest with their opinions without worrying if they'd piss off the members.

i am a rookie on this website.  however, i am not a rookie golfer or analyst.  and according to the data i retrieved from the internet, your I.Q. is substantially lower than mine.  that's a fact. you are aware of the fact because you admitted it in writing.  re mucci and paul:  they don't write like low handicappers.  and even though i have been hampered by grievous foot injuries and endure unblelievable pain conversing with you, i doubt that they could beat me in golf at rolling thunder.  and there is certainly no way that they could beat me at ping pong.  that's not a question mark.  that's a fact.  and if there is any doubt among the readers, we can all tee it up and post the results on the website.  by the way mayday, do they know where my father went to law school?

  I hope you have a higher IQ then me.You know that old expression"it is not how big it is ;it is what you do with it".
  When i was much younger  high IQ was a problem,because i thought i knew it all.As i matured,i realized that common sense and learning and listening were more valuable .These enable me to get along better and get to the truth more.
  My prayer is that you will come to this realization.Then i would expect your comments to make more sense.
   This is the secret to understanding the architecture of our Flynn-designed course.Do not rush headlong into statements based on your immense intelligence,but rather research and learn from the master himself through what he did and said.

as you mature, you will understand that the old expression which you quoted about size is an outright lie and was created so that people like you would feel more comfortable with their inadequacies.  try to be honest with yourself.
and.  i was not unceremoniously deposed.  i just decided to pursue other ventures.  
and.  i know that if flynn were still around, he would agree with me on everything.  how do i know that??  because i researched it on the internet.  and the data is in my car.  it's a fact.  and you can take that to the bank.

As bad as Tom is with anything technical, if we unplug his internet connection I can guarantee he will be totally lost and call for a technician, until then he will stick to writing the book.  

You're right though, his hourly output is probably 10,000 words of which we could distill into 3 or 4 normal sized paragraphs--but they would be meaningful!  As much as you both ride each other, I am sure you're aware of how valuable an asset he is to our project and how much better the end result will be due to his participation.  

However, I did put in for a truckload of red pens to cross out some of his circumlocution(one of the few things I remember from my freshman english class--the modern works from way back then are classics now) and rambling threads.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Gulph Mills book he did for his club, and I'm sure, with the abundance of Flynn's work, TEPaul's efforts will help to produce a terrific book for all to enjoy.

Thanks.  It has been a lot of fun so far working on the book.  Look forward to meeting you someday in the near future.  Next time you're in Philly, I hope you'll make time for a visit to Rolling Green and also for a look at our Flynn treasure trove.

You can't win.

First they complained because they thought we were arguiing in a contentious fashion, and now they are complaining because we are being civil to one another.  

Proving what you and I knew all along, that differences of opinion, debated in passionate, heated, contentious fashion are what gets everybody's hearts and minds stimulated.

I think I'll start a controversial thread.  Stay tuned   ;D
