A Scotman's Dream Team

In the fiction 'A Scotman's Dream' MacKenzie, Ross and Tillinghast team together in 1932. I'm not sure how those three would work together, but I'm curious if there has been any other teams to rival that fictitious team? I would think the short lived team of Colt, MacKenzie and Alison were at least equal. I wonder if C, M & A actually collaborated on a project together. Any other teams that could hold a candle to this group?

Colt & Co., the closest we have to a definitive biography of the first great architect contains much of the significant correspondence between members of the partnership.  It appears that each of the members worked on their own projects and to the extent that cooperation existed, it was between Colt and Allison with the Good Doctor  as an outsider and almost a competitor.  The recent Doak et al biography is consistent with this view.

I think it's just about indisputable that the C,M&A firm was the start of more great courses than any other.  All over the world too.  

But no course stands out to me as an obvious candidate for a three way collaboration.  I think possibly C&M did some work together, early on at Ilkley.

How many and what courses have had true collaborations in new construction?  Is Pine Valley the best example?

I believe there are numerous examples of partnerships where both partners contributed to the design of courses as opposed to dividing projects and working separately.  Currently Crenshaw & Coore seem to function in that fashion.  Moorish & Weiskopf were collaborators.  Further back in time, there were courses where MacDonald and Raynor collaborated in varying degrees, see George Bahto's book for the details.  I will defer to others to comment on Toomey's contributions to Flynn.  There are likely to be numerous other less famous examples; e.g. North & Packard.  Also note the cooperation between the Good Doctor and Maxwell at Crystal Downs as noted in the recent Doak et al biography.  Also Hunter's contributions on some of the more famous courses on the west coast.  Similarly, Billy Bell played an important role in much of George Thomas' work on the west coast.  The oroginal work at Pebble, pre-Egan was collaborative.  This is not to denigrate the contributions of many uncredited associates to bigger names who work in anonymity on some major projects.
