For the Bay Area guys -- take away the beautiful ocean views and replace with the views of the chain of lakes -- isn't the exciting terrain reminiscent of Fowler's Crystal Springs GC? Forgetting some of the more forgettable holes, particularly the stuff up at the top of the course built because of the freeway, some of the Eastward Ho! holes can be seen in holes at CSGC like the 18th and that wild back nine hole, maybe #15?
Fowler really had a genius for routing holes downhill and then uphill.
Always enjoyed Crystal Springs, an invigorating walk!
