Olympic Fields Rerouting
« on: June 11, 2003, 09:55:24 PM »
I'm only an infrequent poster on this board, as much as I love it and the frequent nasty debates that occur on it.  As such, I'm fairly sure that the topic I'm proposing has already been addressed and I missed it.  So, if what I just said is true, would one of you kindly address me to the thread where this was talked about; if not, then I'm curious to hear what the tried and true denizens of this board have to say.

My question is this: I heard on the Golf Channel today from Hale Irwin that they re-routed the holes at OF for the Open this weekend.  As such, I was wondering what this esteemed board thought about the rerouting and how it effects the overall feel and play of the course, not only in terms of how it was designed, but how it plays as an Open course.

One thing I can't seem to find on the web is a comparison of the members' course and the Open course.

Thanks,

steve

Steven, I can't tell you the difference in feel because I have never played the course but the routing change is that the first and tenth holes will remain the same and the rest of the holes will be switched sides.

For the members course they are playing
1,11,12,12...18,10,2,3...9

StevenC:

First of all, let's not reroute the name of the club--it's Olympia Fields.

Steven--As Andrew said, there is no re-routing--only a re-ordering/re-numbering.

Thanks, guys for the input.  And, sorry for the must-be-Freudian slip on the name.  D'Oh!
