I've tried searching to see a photo of this new hazard, but have had not luck. Has anyone seen the new configuration on 18?

I thought there was still a question as to whether any of the fairway bunkering on PB # 18 was less than 2-3 years old.

Did we ever resolve that?

The pix that were shown about a month ago drew some comments as to their "non-newness".

As far as I know there is a brand new bunker on 18. Noone has posted a pic yet, but we've been threatened.

From what I've heard it is past the trees on the right side of the fairway. I'm assuming close to where Tiger hit it in 97' and where a long hitter is apt to bail.

I don't want to have to wait for the tv coverage to see it.

Here is the picture of the 18th fairway bunker taken August 29, 2002.  I guess we will have to wait until USA's coverage starts on Thursday to see a blimp shot ...

There is a new bunker which was built in the last few months.  It is roughly situated between the tress and the bushes on the right side of the hole.

I'm not making an issue of whether the link I posted is of the new bunker or not, I am just posting a factual reference at a point in time for a bench mark.

We may have people on GCA who have played Pebble since August but we are unclear of where the bunker is, its shape, its impact on play.

Like I suggest, memorize the link posted and when the AT&T is on TV (starting tomorrow on the USA Network) this week, then we can view those wonderful blimp shots and compare.

I caught a glimpse of the new bunker on yesterdays coverage and it does appear to be exactly where Tiger drove it 97' when He had 296 left to the hole, He hit three wood and missed the putt for a second place finish which he exclaimed "sucked".

I wonder if there was new sand placed in the bunkers. I know they were not that white when i was there. Or was it the iris of the lens that made them seem so white ala AAC?
