Title: Contentment
Post by: Lester George on October 25, 2022, 10:00:40 PM
I am pleased to report that we are moving forward with our project known as Contentment, in Trap Hill, NC.  As some may remember, this course is inspired by the architecture of Macdonald, Raynor and Banks and is a celebration of their most incredible strategy and adaptation of template holes.  I have been given the opportunity to use my own experience working on other Macdonald, Raynor, and Banks courses to interpret their classic style and adapt that style at Contentment.

I started on this project in 2008 with an owner who had a clear vision an understanding of what he wanted.  To get that, he acquired almost 900 acres of property in the mountains of western North Carolina to provide me with the best landforms available to build these holes. In 2012, we had 3 of the 5 permits required to start the project, but the owner waited until now to pull the trigger.  I expect to be under construction in 2023 and will post a final Master Plan soon.  It will be similar to the one you saw back in 2012, but with some changes to several holes.

Contentment will be a private national destination club with overnight accommodations. No residential.

I will post more when I can, and I will try to respond to comments and questions, but don't be surprised if it takes me some time to get back to you.

Is the course a new addition to a national network? Dormie?

Lester,

Any update on this project?   Did it end up moving forward?

I may be up in Trap Hill area in a couple days and it caused me to think about this thread and your project that I was excited to hear about.

Look forward to hearing whatever update you can.

As soon as I win the Powerball, I would like to build a course inspired by the architecture of Macdonald, Raynor and Banks and  celebrate their  strategy and adaptation of template holes. The only such course here in the desert of Phoenix/Scottsdale  is Forest Richardson's Mountain Shadows Par 3 course. I'll keep you posted. ;D
