Title: Apogee Golf Club
Post by: Matt_Cohn on October 19, 2022, 12:30:52 PM
You would think a 1,200 acre project in Florida with 3 full courses, 2 short courses, 2 ranges, and involvement by Michael Pascucci, Gil Hanse, Kyle Phillips, Mike Davis, and Tom Fazio II would have been mentioned on this site before. But somehow not?

In a few years' time I hope the club name doesn't ironically symbolize the peak of a burst bubble.

There was a thread on this earlier this year before the project had a name. At the time they were considering "Three Lakes Golf Club" and even have a website with that name: https://www.threelakesmartin.com/our-plans.html

Sounds like someone wants a piece of that Streamsong and Cabot Citrus pie.

Hardly,

Both Streamsong and Cabot are uniquely different properties with the former being fully public and the latter mostly public yet allowing for private cottage ownership. Apogee is fully private.

"doodling golf courses since I was a kid'

Oh boy! Me too! I wanna design a golf course!

$650K, really?  To play on a golf course designed by a doodler!

Gil is certainly cashing checks these days.  Glad that he is making coin but a long departure from what he believed when he was a younger architect.   Didn't he write an chapter for one of Geoff's Shackelford's books on not taking too many projects?  Further, he regularly espoused the minimalism/naturalism movement....at least back then.

Oops, missed the part where they mentioned "private".
