Which would you choose to play ?
I can choose between them but know little about either.
-
Montclair would be my choice between the two. The golf scenes in The Sopranos were shot at Upper Montclair.
-
Upper is Lower.
-
Montclair is the pick.
-
Sorry. Way off OT.
...but shows the serendipidity/randomness of this game.
Four hours ago I walked off the 18th green at PCC #9 after my best ball striking day in two years...lo, and behold, a MCC ball marker is in the grass as I walk off.
Jersey seems to find its own.

I'd also pick Montclair.
-
I pick Montclair and it’s not a close call for me.
And I like Upper Montclair, it’s just not in the same category to me
-
I'm biased as a Montclair member but have heard wonderful things about Upper as well. If you come to Montclair, please try to play the 2nd and 3rd nines, which have been wonderfully restored by Brian Schneider and Superintendent Michael Campbell. Really fun golf.

The photos I have seen of Montclair look really good. That would be my choice.
I played Upper Montclair a few years ago and it is certainly not a bad course at all. It does seem to be a very fun membership.

How did the 2nd nine come out? I played two weeks before they re-opened so didn't get to see it. Any member complaints about particular holes/features?

Members are raving about the work on #2. Significant green expansions on 1, 3, 5 and 6, new/improved green complexes on 2 and 9, a minefield of bunkers on 1 and 9, etc. The most dramatic change is on 2 of 2, with the penal element removed (too many good shots resulting in 60 yard roll-backs to the bottom of the fairway) and far more interest in the bunkering
