It gets Better - The Mashie is breaking the Event Seal at Landmand and Attendees have Option to play Old Dane and Omaha CC. Mashie-ists will experience the architectural stylings of Will Andersen (Old Dane), King-Collins (Landmand) and Perry Maxwell and Keith Foster (Omaha CC)
The Mashie Committee has been grinding to deliver a quality experience for all involved.
Sign up has been streamlined. This recognizes Mashie regulars and frees them from the Mashie Sign up madness. Historically the Mashie has recently topped out at 30-40 players. This year, we have the entire tee sheet so will likely have room for those that seek to travel to HOMER NEB.
TRAVEL INFO: 30 min from closest Airport SUX (Sioux City, Iowa) about One hour drive from Omaha, NE
PROCESS
1: Previous hosts are grandfathered in. Host one, you'll know why.
2: Previous multiple Mashie attendees received an email from Thurm and were invited to Pre-register.
3: Our extensive Mashie Data Analytics Black Box (Thurm) has verified that based on previous Mashies, it is likely that any GCAer that comes to Homer Nebraska to play golf that Sunday Monday will get a tee time.
4: As the course will not have officially opened to the public, we are currently only holding slots for those registered on GCA, all signups must come thru this GCA registration Page
5: Our Pricing is discounted and out of respect for our hosts, pricing will be shared with those who sign up. Here is the current schedule
6: We will consider non-GCA guests once the list goes through it's normal Signup and Cancel Cycle (The Korbakes Process)

George, Thurm and I have been working on this for the entirety of COVID. Golf is sold out around the world, even at sh**ty courses so we are ecstactic to have pulled this off. This is a rare opportunity but those of you in the Eastern Time Zone should be aware that we looked very hard at a number of places on the east side of Lake Michigan. We had some close calls but golf is booming, and we were denied. The timing of this Landmand access was fortuitous. We have excellent East of Lake Michigan plans for 2023.

Good thought, but leaving off my full last name should be good enough to hold my pants up. I actually don't know where I'll be living at the time of the Mashie. Philly is one possibility.

If I wasn't going to be in Scotland over those dates I'd sign up immediately. Looking forward to another opportunity to put some faces to names on here. Thanks to the organizers for putting in the effort to get us offline!

Vaughn,
I'm interested in attending the Landmand Mashie. I live in NW Iowa about 1.5 hours north of Landmand. I know my membership date here is very recent but I've been a member/lurker for many years. I did attend the GCA event at Sutton Bay (played in the snow) on the original 18 back in 2005 and hosted by the late Mark Admunson. I've been around awhile. I doubt I'll be able to make it to Omaha CC (depends on work schedule). Please let me know if I can fill a spot.
Thank you.

My move east hasn't happened yet, so I guess I technically still should be on team west. But I've spent about half my life on each side of the Mississippi (assuming that is the dividing line), so either team would make sense.
Just made flight and car res. Looking forward to it (assuming I don't rupture a tendon right before, like last year).

I played Landman today. You guys are going to have fun. It is a big ballpark. Fairways are miles wide and the greens are some of the largest I've ever seen, but you could hit 14 fairways and 18 greens and still not break 80. Buy the yardage book, it is very helpful, and if you don't hold up play drive up and get a good look at the greens. Many of the bunkers are 10 yards or so short of the greens. Use the ground it will be your friend. Stay out of the bunkers they are deep and it takes a while, I think, to get used to them. The greens were pretty slow and the slopes and undulations make distance control difficult. The redan is terrific. It has one of the shortest par threes on the planet and a couple exciting short par fours. Have a great time.

Can someone send the info for next week. I responded to Jason with my email address and haven’t heard anything back.

I left early (again).
Who won?
-
:) As expected East prevailed.
-
Dammit!

Despite the loss, it was a wonderful weekend of golf and camaraderie. Being partnered with Dan Moore, I may have contributed a hole, and watching him shot level par on a course we never saw before filled with blind shots, massive false fronts and giant breaks - Moore is made of stern stuff. Thanks for having me along for the ride.
My opponent Monday was Bill Steele. About the nicest round of golf possible. I had some luck. And surprisingly few rules arguments for 3/4 of the group being lawyers. And Tisslinger taking down Moore, lowering his handicap 2 strokes in the process: impressed. It was all due to my cart navigation.
To the Committee and the Captains: Bravo! To the staff of the club: Bravo! To the town of Sioux City: Bravo! Nice town.

I’d like to thank everyone involved with the organization and execution of the Mashie at Landmand. The past several days was an awesome golf experience. It was great to meet fellow enthusiasts willing to travel half-way across the country for a couple rounds of golf.
Yesterday’s round at the Omaha CC was the longest 6,370 yards I’ve ever played. The course conditions and hospitality were wonderful. I believe every approach shot on the par 4s and 5s was uphill. Yes, there is some elevation in the Midwest.
Landmand…big, bold, dramatic, wow…pick a word. Fascinating green complexes. I don’t know how they envisioned the shaping of the greens and then have the stones to build them. The #17 & #10 greens will get the press but I found the #4 & #15 greens to be even more interesting. It was fun to experiment different lines to putt and end near the cup.
I don’t know what deals were made with the weather gods. We couldn’t have had better conditions. Today, the high is 90 with south winds at 10-20 mph and gust to 30. We thought #8 at ~100 yards was tricky with calm conditions, hah, try it today.
If you want more background on the development of Landmand, checkout the interview with Will Anderson on The Bag Drop from a couple weeks ago.

Thanks again to everyone!
