Re: GCA on TV & Video Compilation - Reorganization & Additions
« Reply #25 on: February 13, 2015, 06:13:20 PM »
I just tried to update the original post with new additions up to and including the full list of Architects Week II links.  I have exceeded the maximum post size, so for now, I'll just give you the link to the page on my blog that has the full archive:

http://geekedongolf.com/2015/01/17/gca-on-tv-and-video/

If the powers that be would like this to be a Best of Golf page here, I would be happy to work on that and keep it updated.  Otherwise, just check on my blog periodically and you'll find new nuggets.

Also thought y'all might be interested to know, at the end of AWII, I published this post:

http://geekedongolf.com/2015/02/10/architects-week-ii-is-in-the-books-now-for-the-show/

Matt Ginella PM'd me the same day on Twitter with this:

"Thanks again for all feedback. Big plans for AW III. With Sand Valley, Streamsong Black & Forest Dunes, trust me, I'll be getting out...Given weather throughout the world, hard to travel this time of year, but it all starts soon. Korea, Nicaragua & Rio being discussed."

Looks like it should be a good year for the GCA nerd audience.  Stay tuned...

A good Golf Channel segment this morning on MacKenzie:

Jason,

Just noticed Jack's Point have a new video, one of the best "overview" style of vids I've seen.

I didn't produce it, it's not in the same vein as what I do (players perspective) but I do appreciate a good "overview" style of vid.

It's on this page:

Thanks for passing it along Mark.  Reminds me that I am due to update the page.

Anybody else seen any good GCA-related videos lately?

Quick update on the video link archive.  With everything I have going on at Canal Shores, etc. it was impossible to keep up with the ever increasing flow of solid GCA-related video content.

Lucky me, fellow geek Kyle Truax volunteered to take over stewardship of the page.  He overhauled it and will be doing regular updates for those who are interested.

If there are videos that Kyle is missing, feel free to email me at jwizay1493@hotmail.com or post them here and I will pass them along.  Thanks to all who have contributed thus far, and many thanks to Kyle.

How did I not know this existed? Great stuff, Jason, and good luck, Kyle.

This should be a sticky atop the first page. What a resource!

Kyle continues to add a tremendous amount of cool video content to the archive page (I can't even keep up with what he's doing), so I wanted to give this a bump in case you haven't been in a while.  Thanks Kyle.

As always, if we have missed anything that ought to be included, post links in the comments here, or PM.  The page is constantly evolving.

Bumping this for two reasons:

First, our very own Kyle Truax has done an incredible job of compiling and organizing links to what has become a ridiculous amount of course, architect, and architecture related content.  If you have not checked back in a while, I highly recommend it.  Many thanks to Kyle for all of his efforts.

And second, I wanted to congratulate Kyle on being accepted to the LA program at University of TN Knoxville. The dude loves GCA and so he is bucking up and chasing his dreams.  Best of luck Kyle!

I'm undertaking an overhaul of the video archive to make it a little more user-friendly (hopefully).  As videos get reorganized, I'll keep you posted.

Specifically this week, I have added video and links for this year's major championship venues, quite a few recent U.S. Open venues, and a solid batch of Bay Hill videos.

Side note, I really enjoy the Tee to Green segments Golf Channel is now doing with Frank Nobilo.  There is something about the way that he expresses his perspective on architecture that really appeals to me.  Am I alone in that opinion?

The temps have fallen into the stupid range around here, which means more work on overhauling the video archive (and living vicariously through it). I gave up on trying to get everything on one page. There is just too much content out there now. The archive is split into 5 sections, and I have tuned up and added to the first two:

Thanks to Howard for compiling all of the links for Design Week. I much prefer to wait until it's over and watch it all at once. As always, let me know if you have any interesting videos, or avenues for exploration.

P.S.  There is also a new little collaboration that I have been working on with Jon Cavalier and Simon Haines that you geeks might find interesting: http://bit.ly/GreatHolesNowThen
