David very interesting.

Perhaps on this thread we could agree the 'best' hole not on the Open rota.  All 1500 ( ;D) of us then post that to the BBC and see if we can get it on the list.

To see if we have been successful we should avoid really famous holes like Foxy or the Redan.

I nominate the 16th at North Berwick.
Let's make GCA grate again!

If you added the 9th at Golspie to almost any course in the world it would improve the course.  A great golf hole.

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I have yet to play Golspie but I like the suggestion from a relatively lesser know course.

Here's Kyle Henderson's photo of the green and apporach.

#8 Renaissance Club

#7 Trump Aberdeen

#17 Trump Aberdeen

#14 Carnoustie Burnside

If I had to only choose one of these nominations it would be the last.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the 12th at Southerness.
I would also nominate the 17th at the Queens course, Gleneagles.
