I hesitate to post this here, for fear of creating a jinx, but here goes. I was declined this year (got my email last week), but over the last 10+ years I've had much better luck than what's been posted here by others. I'm something like 4/12.
A thought to consider, there is a box on the application that basically says: "I've listed what I want, but I'll really take anything." Naturally, the National words it a bit more elegantly. I ALWAYS check that box. I know I'll continue apply every year, and check that box every time, at least until my membership application clears the committee!
