The pics show no bunker rakes.  Are the no rakes a course policy?  (Dormie has no bunker rakes).  Really look forward to the Dixie Cup.

Carl,

There are rakes, especially in the green side bunkers.  Less rakes in the larger parts of the bunkers.  Those photos taken where when the course was prob not open yet.

On my 3 nine hole rounds at Sweeten's (2015 Dixie Cup), I came to the conclusion that is a profoundly demanding wedge play - finesse game course.  If I could play there 3 times a month, the intimidation factor would diminish.  I am a believer that certain golf courses that kick you real hard in parts of your game eventually make you better.

Thanks for sharing Howard.  That post was fun to put together, and Rob is such a good dude, that it made it all the more fun.

Scott, Rob provided me with a giant dump of photos, and I happily sifted through them for the ones I thought complemented his writing best.  I know that some are his, and I suspect that some were shot by Patrick and John Allen (an SC member who joined us the day I played).

Great tour Jay. I want to get down there before year end. How long is the playing season in Chattanooga?

They are open year-round, barring snow and freezing temps.

ICYMI, Andy Johnson did a nice interview podcast with Rob Collins on Sweetens Cove and other GCA topics on FriedEgg.co.  Good stuff.

Thanks Jason, was fun to have Rob on the podcast. Looking forward to do more golf course architecture ones in the near future.

Sweetens is such a special place, it's everything that golf should be. Playable, fun, strategic, thought provoking just a spectacular place that shifted the way I think about golf and architecture.

The podcast was great.  You can tell how much passion Rob puts into his work.  At the end of the podcast, Rob mentions a couple things he might change to the course and it would be interesting to see if the teeing ground idea ever happens.

Even after another year of playing different courses, SC sticks out as one of the more memorable I played.
