Crump Cup 9/22/2024
« on: April 16, 2024, 12:27:03 PM »
Anyone know if Pine Valley will be finally allowing spectators this year, or is that seemingly gone forever?

The recording on their main phone # says no spectators this year, but I wonder if that is leftover from 2023.

Otherwise, my only chance to ever see Pine Valley might have to wait for 2034 Curtis Cup. :(

I don't know any inside story on this one but would be surprised if it wasn't back to usual this September

I have read unsubstantiated statements, and the membership does not plan to return to allowing outside public spectators onto the grounds for the final matches of the Crump Cup.

Does anyone know if this is correct or incorrect?

Bill,

I don’t know about the upcoming Crump Cup, but the Walker Cup in 1985 had only about 2,000 public spectators and it was really nice being able to walk the fairways and listen to the player - caddy conversations.

Pine Valley, by the way, only charged $10 for a pass.

Bill,

A PV member told me that the plan for the foreseeable future is to keep the Crump Cup closed to the public for liability reasons.

Thank you for that information.  That is what I suspected.

I guess that PV can't afford the insurance premium. Have there been any liability claims?

I’d like to see an ID. The Mark Chaplin I know can’t be 60!   :)
