Eric
Really nice job with this writeup. I'm playing Chechessee Friday for the first time.

This looks to be up there with SC best.  Palmetto, Camden, Harbor Town,
Long Cove, Chanticleer, Dunes, YHC, and KI Ocean.

John,

Thanks for the bump.

I'm headed there in a couple weeks and very much looking forward to it.  The bad news is this time I wont have the opportunity to play it with Mac.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

How does Chechesee Creek play relative to other C&C courses?  I've only played two C&C tracks.  Kapalua (Plantation) is played through the air whereas Hidden Creek allows and even encourages a lot of run up shots.  It looks like C3 encourages run up shots.  How does the course treat aerial approaches into the greens?

Ron, greens , as of last week were very firm, yet receptive....
and the advice about "missing short" is very true,
as a side miss on any green is challenging,
but especially so on the "push ups"...

as with other Low Country courses,
RAIN can play havoc with the usual, and desired, fast and firm approaches...

Am I crazy, or is the brown-into-pale-green color scheme the absolute best for Southern golf courses?  Chechessee looks so good in those photos.  It seems pretty clear that they do not overseed the fairways into the winter; do they resist the all too often indulged urge to overseed the greens as well?  What kind of grass is on the greens at Chechessee?  They look like they were in perfect shape in March.

Cheers.

Thoroughly enjoyed Chechesse today in my first playing.  My initial takeaways are:

- great vibe to the place relaxed but with a clear spirit for competitive golf
- very difficult course. Plays long for the yardage, greens are small, misses must be good or lots of doubles
- no straight holes with 9 or10 holes that lean right
- difficult greens that are beautifully done and hard to recover from once pin high
- great 3's and short 4's. Also some really attractive long approach shots like 8, 14, and18

Can't wait to go back and play with the kind of thought and restraint the course demands.

I had the good fortune to play CCC late yesterday afternoon. What a special place.

Nice to see a few more pics of Chechessee.  It is an easy course to underestimate as the yardage is shortish, the land is flat, there aren't "signature" holes or vistas.  I  find it to be tricky to play well (with some flat out hard holes and recovery shots) and all around really enjoyable.  I have had some of the fastest (less than 3 hrs) most invigorating rounds there of anywhere this side of the Atlantic.
